3. Press the tab onto the dent and wait a few minutes for the glue to set

Once the glue has dried (it should take a few minutes; if you can leave a mark in the glue with your fingernail, it’s not dry yet), you can slide the end of the slide hammer over the glue sheet.

We quickly learned that how hard you hit the slide hammer can either fix a dent or make it worse. So don’t overheat the slide hammer the first time; just start with half of the bar and tap quickly, watching the metal closely to see if it moves or seems to pull out the dent.

The slide hammer will then need to be removed and a plastic chisel used to remove the protrusion and glue from the panel.

What can happen is that the metal around the dent starts to break away causing the high spot. You can see in our results that there is a slight high spot around the dent.

We have found that most of the time the film will actually break away from the panel and remain intact on the film.
